报告简介:
During the 20th century, great strides have been made in solving industrial scheduling problems. In doing so, it has defined itself as a distinct and separate academic subject. While scheduling research efforts have created opportunities for its use in practice, industrial leaders are still not convinced of its utility. Further, recent developments in information technology and related fields have changed the landscape for the development and use of scheduling theory in practice by creating the so called "new economy". In this seminar, we will examine this changing landscape and outline the challenges and opportunities for doing research in scheduling. We will also identify useful directions for future research in scheduling.
