<strong>Congestion Control and Resource Allocation for QoS Internet: Old Challenges and New Achievements</strong>

报告简介：

Regarding the old challenge of Internet in meeting the requirements of Quality of Service (QoS) of the users, this talk will firstly present a control theoretical outlook on congestion control. The interactive mechanism, in which various TCP protocols (at the source) and various AQM schemes (at the routers) work together, is interestingly cast into that of a time-delay control system. By utilizing the time-delay control theory, we then obtain some results on the stability of dynamic queue, which are applicable in designing of TCP protocols and AQMs. This talk will secondly review the network utility maximization (NUM) theory with new developments being highlighted. Finally, if time is permitted, the long-lasting challenges in the areas of congestion control and resource allocation will be touched, for inspiring future research.

报告人简介：

谭连生（Liansheng Tan)， 1988年7月本科毕业于福州大学，1991年7月于中国科学院武汉物理与数学研究所获得硕士学位， 1999年12月于英国拉夫堡大学获得博士学位。2001年受聘于加拿大渥太华大学信息技术与工程学院担任研究员。 2006年至2009年受聘于澳大利亚国立大学工程与计算机科学学院担任研究员。现为华中师范大学计算机科学系教授、博士生导师。 2002年至2009年担任华中师范大学计算机科学系主任（院长）。作为负责人主持承担了国家自然科学基金等10余项科研项目, 在国际主流学术期刊和主流国际学术会议上发表论文120篇，其中60余篇论文发表在国际权威学术期刊（包括16篇IEEE和ACM学术期刊论文）。现担任国际学术期刊Journal of Computers的主编，现担任和曾经担任International Journal of Communication Systems等四种国际学术期刊的编委。主要研究兴趣：计算机通信网络的拥塞控制与性能评估，传输控制协议与体系结构，无线ad hoc网络和传感器网络，无线通信及移动计算。(For more details, please visit my homepage at http://cs.ccnu.edu.cn/teacher/tls/index.html)
