With the advances of multi-scale material constitutive models and computational methodologies, Virtual Product Development (VPD) in automotive industry is marching towards reality. Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) has become the necessary and important first step in vehicle design. This presentation is intended to give a brief overview of CAE involvement at various stages of vehicle development, introduction to various tools and methodologies available in analysis of automotive components, subsystem and complete vehicle level for structural strength, safety, NVH and durability. It will cover in details the practical aspects of pre and post processing of durability analysis of Powertrain components and systems and the integration of Virtual Cast Component Development (VCCD) with various analytical tools.

报告人简介：

Dr. Wang got PhD. in Materials Engineering in 1997 from The University of Queensland in Australia. Between 1997 and 1999, Dr. Wang conducted post-doctoral research at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in USA. In 1999, Dr. Wang joined GM as a senior material engineer and then a lead technical specialist. In past three decades, Dr. Wang had developed his expertise in computational alloy and casting design, process modeling and optimization, multi-scale discontinuity and microstructure simulation, and micro-mechanics based material property prediction and durability analysis. Dr. Wang has organized numerous international conferences and symposiums and has also given many keynote speeches. He is a member of several international technical committees and editorial boards of key international journals in Materials and Metallurgy. He has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed English journals and has near 30 patents. He was a Chairman of ASM International Saginaw Chapter and Vice Chairman of Chinese Association of Great Detroit (CAGD). Dr. Wang has recently been appointed as an adjunct professor by Tong Ji University and Southeast University.
